The hydrogen leak detection plays a vital role within the OVERLEAF project and that is because of the potential leak of hydrogen from out the tanks or the pipes of hydrogen powered aircrafts. Additionally, a challenge that characterizes the development of this particular type of sensor is to ensure an effective performance at the cryogenic lower temperature.

In the third episode of the “Insights from OVERLEAF’s experts” we have tried to explore this particular topic with Roger Groves, from the Delft University of Technology.

“The innovation that we will be doing in this project” says the expert, “is that we will looking at tantalum and palladium and mixtures with other metals to optimize the sensing performances for lower temperatures”.
