The second webinar in the OVERLEAF series focused on the critical role of optical hydrogen sensors in ensuring the safe storage of liquid hydrogen for aviation. Hosted by experts from TU Delft, the session provided valuable insights into cutting-edge sensor technologies that enhance hydrogen safety.

The webinar began with a brief introduction to the OVERLEAF project, followed by presentations from leading researchers. Dr. Aycan Atli discussed the use of metal hydrides as hydrogen sensing materials and their response characteristics in aerospace conditions. Dr. Kasun Dissanayake explored optical sensing techniques, explaining the interaction between light and materials for hydrogen detection. Finally, Dr. Theo Travers detailed the optimization of optical hydrogen sensors for improved performance.

The session concluded with Q&A, allowing participants to delve deeper into the challenges and innovations surrounding hydrogen safety.
